RESEARCH ACTIVITIES
Twenty first century is considered to be the century of Knowledge Driven Industry. In order to contribute optimally to the progress of living beings in general and human beings in particular, Scientific and Engineering community has to create, disseminate and apply new knowledge in this emerging areas.
With this consideration Society for Education and Research (SER) a non-profitable organization decided to fund research in the field of Intelligent Systems with a particular thrust on Computational Intelligence. The first initiative in this regard was the establishment of COMPUTATIONAL INTELLIGENCE LABORATORY (CI-LAB) at ISTK under the commendable and able leadership and guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar. The thrust areas identified are:
* Fuzzy Logic Based System Design
* Neural Networks
* Evolutionary Computing
* Swarm Intelligence
* Electronic Design Automation
The CI-LAB is the manifestation of goal-oriented achievements conceptualized on the basis of innate ingenuity.The CI-LAB is engaged in research, design and development in the field of electronics design automation.The CI Lab has orgainised five international conferences on Intelligent Systems and Networks-IISN.Researchers from 12 countries including Turkey,Spain,Sudan,Doha,UK & from 26 States of India & 6 Industries participate every year.

Nanotechnology is one of the most important enabling technologies of 21st Century.National Science Foundation (USA) estimated Nano-related business to touch a $1 trillion mark by 2015 and about 10,00,000 Nanotechnology-skilled personnel may be needed to meet the man power requirements of this industry.Sensing this technological and manpower requirement ISTK established its second research laboratory nick named CENT to cater for the needs of this upcoming industry. Currently a DRDO sponsored research project is also underway in the CENT.

Today, we are mostly on fast depleting polluting fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural. These are the mjor cause of Global Warming and pollution which is harmful to living beings. So need of the hour is to identify new renewable energy resources, deploy these and sustainable use of existing means of energy. To address this problem, the institute is also planning to open one more laboratory the “Centre for Renewable Energy Technology (CREATE). The centre is in the starting phase of analysing the energy problems in the country.
